Panel and attachment
Panel length, gauge, attachment and substrate influence how the roof handles movement and loads. The building and product requirements govern the assembly.

Metal panels offer a different roof assembly and appearance. Understand the profiles, connections and roof conditions before choosing a system.
Free roof inspections. Repairs, replacements and commercial roof help.
Standing-seam panels use raised seams and system-specific attachment details. Exposed-fastener panels have visible screws and washers with their own maintenance needs. Metal tiles and shingles provide other profiles. These are different systems, rather than one interchangeable metal roof.
Panels expand and contract as temperatures change. Clips, fasteners, laps and transitions need to accommodate the selected system. Penetrations, valleys and wall flashings must fit the profile so water can leave the roof.

For the work beneath a new covering, see roof replacement and its deck, flashing and ventilation scope.
Panel length, gauge, attachment and substrate influence how the roof handles movement and loads. The building and product requirements govern the assembly.
Pipe boots, chimneys and roof-to-wall joints interrupt the panels. Product-compatible details need to work with movement and runoff.
Loose exposed fasteners, damaged washers and failed flashings are separate issues. A surface coating does not fix a distorted panel or failed support.
Roof shape, panel profile, removal, deck condition and detailed transitions drive the cost. Long panels, access and staging affect labor as well as the material itself. The asphalt calculator does not price a metal system.
A free inspection can establish the roof geometry and the work around existing penetrations before a panel choice is finalized. Material appearance, sound control and any insulation assembly should be considered with the whole roof.
Discuss your metal roof
The existing layers, deck, attachment requirements, ventilation and applicable code determine whether that assembly is suitable. Covering an old roof does not repair damaged decking or remove trapped problems.
